Consider The Source

September 25th

“When another blames you or hates you, or people voice similar criticisms, go to their souls, penetrate inside and see what sort of people they are. You will realize that there is no need to be racked with anxiety that they should hold any particular opinion about you.”

—Marcus Aurelius

Meditations

When you feel the sting of criticism or the weight of someone's dislike pressing down on you, remember that their words are reflections of their own soul.

Pause, and take a moment to consider who they truly are on the inside. What fears and perspectives might be shaping their opinions of you? Understanding that their criticisms are more about their own struggles, limitations, and experiences than about your true self can be liberating.

It disentangles your worth from their judgment, freeing you from the needless worry over their approval.

Why should another person's viewpoint dictate your peace of mind? Dive deep into the practice of empathy and realize that while everyone is entitled to their opinions, these views do not define who you are.

Instead of being tormented by what others might think of you, focus on your own values and actions. On this journey through life, you're the captain of your ship, navigating through a sea of diverse thoughts and voices. Don't allow the winds of others' judgments to blow you off course.

Stand firm in the knowledge of your own intent and character.
