Let Nothing Stop You

June 21st

“Our inward power, when it obeys nature, reacts to events by accommodating itself to what it faces—to what is possible. It needs no specific material. It pursues its own aims as circumstances allow. It turns obstacles into fuel, as a fire overwhelms what would have quenched a lamp. What's thrown on top of the conflagration is absorbed, consumed by it, and makes it burn still higher.”

—Marcus Aurelius

Meditations

Our internal strength isn't dependent on external goods; rather, it thrives by adapting to the environment.

Like nature, which flows around obstacles and incorporates them into its growth, our internal power can shape us, provided we allow it to work with what's available, not against it.

Have you let a limitation define your potential, or can you see a way to adapt and grow from the challenge at hand?

True resilience is the ability to turn hardships into stepping stones, much as a fire uses obstacles not as the end, but as fuel to burn brighter. When faced with adversity, try to absorb it, use it to empower yourself, rather than let it extinguish your flame.

Life will inevitably throw various challenges your way. The question is: Will these hurdles smother your ambitions, or will you incorporate them, making your resolve stronger and your purpose even more potent?

Next time an obstacle arises, ask yourself: How can this make my fire burn higher?
