Time Is Limited

March 28th

“Remember how long you’ve been putting this off, how many extensions the gods gave you, and you didn’t use them. At some point you have to recognize what world it is that you belong to, what power rules it, and from what source you spring. Recognize that there is a limit to the time assigned to you, and if you don’t use it to free yourself, it will be gone and will never return.”

—Marcus Aurelius

Meditations

Have you ever told yourself, "I'll do it tomorrow"? It's easy to postpone tasks, to wait for an elusive perfect moment that never comes.

Reflect on the times you've deferred your goals or responsibilities, convincing yourself you'd have endless opportunities to tackle them. The truth is, those silent grants of time are a gift, not a given. They're finite and often squandered.

Think about the project you've been putting on hold or the habit you've been meaning to change. Are you taking the extra time you've stumbled upon for granted?

Marcus prompts us to look inward—to realize which world we inhabit. This physical realm is guided by nature's laws and rhythms, and our very existence is derived from a greater cosmic order.

In this, there's an unspoken truth: our time is limited. Within that limited time, we have the choice to free ourselves from our self-imposed chains—hesitation, fear, and procrastination.

Ask yourself: what would it truly mean to be free, and what steps can you take today towards that freedom? If not, the sand in the hourglass will continue to fall, each grain a lost chance at liberation that will never come back.

This moment is your moment. Seize it.
